Eternal Security! false or true doctrine?

The Word "repentance" was used about or over 26 times in the bible, if we are going to be sure of going to heaven we must admit we are sinners and the next step is to repent of those sins that separated us from God. Luke 13:3 - I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish; Acts 3:19 - Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord. infact it is a command that we must repent of our sins or likewise we perish. Believing in Jesus alone will not guarantee any one eternal life without repentance.

Both John and Jesus Christ called for repentance, if we believe in Jesus then repentance is needed for the remission of our sins, if we have to be fully grafted into Jesus Christ, if we have to be truly called His own our sins then needs to be repented of and confessed and to be forgiven of them by Jesus Christ, if we are to believe in Him only for us to have eternal life then there is no need for Him to have been on the cross, God needed blood to cover our sins and that is why Jesus went to the cross, repentance is also needed for the blood of Jesus shed on the cross of calvary to avail for us. Some Christians believe that if they only believe on the work Jesus did on the cross they will have eternal life, some even believe that once you are saved you are saved eternally and there is nothing you do from the moment you believe in the work Jesus did on the cross that will get you into hell, belief in Jesus alone may not be able to carry us through if we don't repent of our sins. Sin is the only thing separating us from God, if we believe in the work Jesus did on the cross only to have eternal life without the necessary repentance, confession and forgiveness of sin then the question is why Jesus on the cross, what was God looking for when He allowed His only Son to suffer on the cross, why was his blood shed.

This is one of the false doctrine found in most churches today which is responsible for a great number of people in hell today. how can someone claim to believe in Jesus and still look like those who don't believe in Jesus, When someone is saved a relationship is started with God and you must be pleasing to God everyday of your life to be able to sustain that relationship. After salvation and someone returns to sin then the relationship with God has been broken, common sense tells us that the person is longer in line with God because the bible told us that the eyes of God is too pure and holy that it cannot behold sin.

Christians who claim to have everlasting life in Jesus Christ by faith only and not by works should understand that when it has to do with faith there must be actions and works that will show forth your faith, Abraham's total obedience to God was counted to Him as righteousness, Abraham did not obtain that by just believing but he added action and works, at least he moved by journeying to whereever God directed without even knowing where he is going. When God asked him to sacrifice his only son, he went in total obedience without complaining being that Isaac was his only son. Now based on all this accounts and many more Abraham was counted a righteous man before God. Gen. 15:6 "And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness". Now James said "faith without works is dead" James 2:20 said "But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?", Also in James 2:26 "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also". Faith and grace should not replace moral laws, belief in Jesus Christ should be complimented with works especially in the area of moral laws, at least we know that Jesus did not abolish the moral laws. There are laws that was established pointing to using blood to cover sins which was fulfilled by Jesus Christ on the cross therefore we have no need of doing those things to obtain salvation but moral laws must be observed if we must keep our salvation unto eternal life as promised by Jesus to all who believe in him.

Romans 4:5 "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

The scripture does not tell anyone who believe in Him who justifies the ungodly to continue to break the moral laws. belief in Jesus is much more than what we think, we tend to take the word "belief" and leave the ingredients behind, there are so many things that made up that word belief, there are steps you must take before getting to belief, when we believe in someone we will like to be at peace with such person, we will like to do things that will not cause commotion in between us. so when we believe in Jesus we must be sure not to do things that will grieve him, we will like to please him and also keep his commandment. John 14:15 "If ye love me, keep my commandments". For our belief in Jesus to be effective three things are required and they are confession, repentance and forgiveness of sin otherwise it all amounts to self righteousness which is a filthy rag before the Lord. Isaiah 64:6. "But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteous nesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away". if we carry on with what we call belief in Jesus and with hope of eternal life without pure repentance, confession and forgiveness of our sins then we are only joking. the Publican repented cried for mercy, he beat his chest and said Lord have mercy upon me a sinner. Luke 18:14-14 "And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted".

Eternal Security sound like the Pharisee in the same luke chapter 18. You just come before God in a church and recite some written out words or repeating after your pastor and in your mind you have that belief that you have God in you and there is no confirmation from God whom you claim to have had in your heart. do you think that by just repeating some written out word God must and surely come into your heart?, no it does not work that way. You must repent, confess and ask for forgiveness of you sins and the Holy Spirit will confirm to you that God is now in you. For you to have eternal life you must Acknowledge you sins(Luke 18:13; Acts 3:19; Luke 13:3), Confess(1 John 1:9; Romans 10:9), repent(luke 13:3; Acts 3:19), Forsake your sins(Isaiah 55:7) and now belief comes in(John 3:16) then you receive(Romans 8:16)

Yes you can loose your salvation as scriptures below shows us, but God in His infinite mercy has made a way for us to return to Him even when we have sinned against Him. Sorrowful repentance is the key.

2Corinthians 7:10 "For godly sorrow worker repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death". Psalms 34:18 "The LORD [is] nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit".

Ezekiel 18:24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.
When a righteous man, a man who is saved lost his way in God and return to his old way of life, the life of sin, the bible told us here that his former righteousness will not be remembered, he is as good as a sinner who have not repented before and needs to go back to God in repentance to regain his status as a child of God, if not, he will perish.

Ezekiel 3:20 " Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand"

1Timothy 4:1 "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils";

The bible said that if a saved man return to sin, his righteousness will not be remembered and that means he had lost his salvation and every hope of eternal life, there is nothing like when you sin as a saved person God will punish you for that sin and afterwards you still be a saved person. Every man born of a woman has what is called conscience, and this conscience if it is alive will always tell you as a christian when you have done something wrong against God and human. Then the Holy Spirit is there also to convict you of your sins and to help you also to come back to God.
